IRIS Intelligence proudly sponsored the 2021 University Risk Management & Insurance Association (URMIA) Summit “Emerging from the Storm”.
The 52nd Annual Risk Management Summit focused on the needs of the Higher Education sector and took place October 16-20th 2021 both as a virtual event and in person in Seattle, WA. After so many months apart, we were delighted to be able to support the risk management community at an in-person conference at long last. URMIA is an organisation that’s making a real difference to the management of risk in the Higher Education sector by bringing together expertise and insight from across the country and it was a pleasure to see so many risk managers together again.
IRIS also sponsored the URMIAcares initiative. This offers the opportunity for conference attendees and guests to participate in community service projects to benefit the host community for that year’s conference. It is a great way to make new friends and engage in public service on the day before the conference kicks off. This year in Seattle the community partner was YouthCare which works to end youth homelessness. It aims to ensure that young people are valued for who they are and are empowered to achieve their potential. As an URMIAcares sponsor we partnered with YouthCare to assemble and deliver Halloween treat bags for kids who may not have a traditional “trick-or-treating” experience. As one of a limited number of volunteer opportunities due to lingering concerns regarding the pandemic, this volunteer opportunity allowed participants to remain at the conference site in downtown Seattle while supporting a local non-profit in a spirited way.
